Big Changes, Bright Future: Register Now for Summer & Fall at Gila Community College

There’s never been a more exciting time to be part of Gila Community College — and if you’re thinking about taking classes this summer or fall, now is the perfect time to get started.

As we prepare to launch a new era of independence, GCC is encouraging all new and returning students to complete the admissions process early. Why? Because once our class catalog is released in May, we expect a surge in activity — and early registration now helps you avoid delays later.

What’s Changing?

This summer marks a big milestone: GCC will officially end its long-standing partnership with Eastern Arizona College. That means we’ll be using our very own registration and student records system for the first time.

If you’ve registered through EAC in the past, take note: your old registration info won’t carry over. Every student — whether you’re brand-new or have taken GCC classes before — will need to submit a new admissions form through our system.

How to Register

Getting started is quick and easy:

  1. Visit gilacc.org

  2. Click on the “Apply Now” tab

  3. Fill out the online form to begin the admissions process

What About Classes?

We’re working hard to finalize our new course catalog, which will be available in May. While many of the classes will look familiar, they’ve been reorganized under GCC’s independent catalog — giving us more flexibility and control while still offering the same great programs and pathways.

“We’ve got a lot of the same programs and degrees students are used to,” said GCC President Janice Lawhorn. “We didn’t try to reinvent the wheel — we focused on continuity and quality.”

Once the catalog is live, students will be able to officially sign up for classes. But registering early ensures you’ll be ready to go the moment that happens.

Dual Enrollment & Free Tuition Opportunities

Early registration is especially important for the hundreds of high school students in Payson, Globe, Miami, Reay, Superior, Hayden-Winkelman, Kearny, and San Carlos who participate in dual enrollment. These students have the unique opportunity to earn a two-year associate degree — completely free — thanks to funding from the Aspire Foundation, Friends of Rim Country, and the Pinal Mountain Foundation. The Aspire Foundation and Friends of Rim Country serves the students of Payson and the Pinal Mountain Foundation serves the Globe/Miami communities.
