Preparing the Next Generation of Nurses
Gila Community College’s Nursing Program, based in Payson and Globe, prepares students for meaningful careers as Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). Our students are trained to make a positive impact in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, schools, community health organizations, and home care.
The program leads to an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS), with the option to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) through our concurrent enrollment partnership with ASU & GCU. This allows students to begin working toward their BSN while completing their associate degree.
Admission to the nursing program requires a separate application process, and space is limited. Early planning with an advisor is strongly recommended.

If you are a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) ready to take the next step in your nursing career, Gila Community College’s Nursing Program offers an Advanced Placement option designed just for you. This pathway recognizes your prior education and clinical experience, allowing you to transition into the program at an accelerated pace.
Qualified LPN applicants may be eligible to enter directly into the third semester of the nursing program after meeting specific admission requirements. This means you can build on your existing skills while reducing the time needed to complete your Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
If you are motivated to expand your role in patient care, increase your career opportunities, and become a Registered Nurse, this pathway offers a streamlined and supportive way to achieve your goals.
